Kontiolahti

Kontiolahti (popn. C 11,000) was founded in 1873 in the middle of North-Karelia. The great water areas of lake Höytiäinen and river Pielinen shape the landscape of the town. Noble lines of hill-tops and lively villages are the messengers of the many faces of the town.

Nearby Jakokoski village was ´village of the year 1998` in Finland. The home district center, Jakokoski Canal museum, Karelia-Golf golf course, biathlon stadium, Kolvananuuro nature path, Koli nature trail, hiking routes and other places of interest in North-Karelia, offer the peace of the nature and possibilites for different activities, unforgetable events, sights and versatile services.
